The Kind Scale

Certified Gentle Weighing Unit. Est. 2026. Not affiliated with any actual metrology.

About the Bureau

The Bureau of Gentle Metrics exists to weigh things kindly, full time, with total confidence and no calibration equipment whatsoever. We are not a scale manufacturer. We are not a wellness initiative. We are a bureau, and we have the letterhead to prove it.

The Weighing Protocol

Every step onto the platform is logged as a discrete weighing event: timestamped, rounded generously, and added to a running Certified Weight that has never once gone up. The number itself remains free to be interpreted as flattering.

The Certified Weight

The Certified Weight falls with every weigh-in by an amount our bureau selects at the time, based on nothing. It approaches a figure we are not at liberty to disclose and has never once reached it. We publish it anyway, in large friendly type, because a number that only goes down is good for morale — yours, if not physics'.

Measurement Accuracy

Measured independently of the Certified Weight, Measurement Accuracy remains remarkably low regardless of how many times you step on the platform. This is not a bug. It is, according to the bureau, 'simply what the data shows.'

Why This Matters

It doesn't, metrologically speaking. But somewhere around the fifth or sixth step, the number starts to feel earned. That feeling is the entire service. Everything else is paperwork.
